  • Peterson Automotive Museum Engagement Photos | Los Angeles, CA | Kristie & Jeoffrey

  • Hello!

Today, we had the opportunity to take engagement photos for a couple of friends of ours. Kristie & Jeoff wanted engagement photos of the two of them before their wedding and we were happy to help.

The first location of the engagement session was the Peterson Automotive Museum. Jeoffrey is an experienced driver and driving instructor, so photos at a venue with awesome cars was something that they really wanted to remember their engagement. The Peterson Automotive Museum is a private venue, so the couple had to secure a photography permit before we were able to shoot. Not all venues require a photography permit, but it’s always smart to double-check so the shoot runs according to plan.

Once we checked-in with the Peterson Museum, we were free to roam and snap engagement photos. It was very dark inside the museum, so Geoff and I had to use remote lighting to compensate. The remote lighting also gave the photos a dramatic look, which was an added bonus.

Check out some of the engagement photos from the Peterson Automotive Museum.

The automotive museum was an awesome place for engagement photos, but it was on to the next location to change things up.

We found a nice outdoor location nearby in Culver City and continued taking engagement photos there.

After a quick dinner break at Father’s Office in Culver City, we went to our last location nearby to finish the engagement session. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and their Urban Lights display is a very popular spot for engagement photos and for good reason. It’s a beautiful display and gives photographers a lot to work with.

It was an awesome engagement shoot that Geoff and I had a great time photographing. Remote lighting is something we have a lot of fun using and it helps us shoot in all types of lighting conditions. Just another way we are prepared at whatever a photo shoot throws at us.

Have any questions about having me and Geoff capture the moments of your big event? Just give us a call at 626.269.8898 or shoot us an email at info@bluesoulphoto.com.

  • Culver Hotel Wedding Photos | Culver City, CA | Yuka & Dai

  • Howdy!

Today, we get to revisit a beautiful wedding we photographed at the historic Culver Hotel in Culver City, CA. All of the weddings we shoot have something awesome about them, like a surprise dance or performance, wedding detail that we’ve never seen before, and this wedding was no different. On this special day, our groom was professional race car driver Dai Yoshihara, and that was super cool. Shooting weddings is our full-time gig, but we also shoot other projects and free lance for a few magazines whenever our friends in the print industry need some help with photos, and automotive photography is something we dabble in, so photographing the wedding of a professional driver was something pretty awesome.

The Culver Hotel is an awesome historic venue in the heart of Downtown Culver City where “classic meets contemporary and history meets modern luxury.” There is so much character in this venue and it provided a lot to work with for us.

For this wedding, Joseph, an associate photographer of ours, was manning the second camera while I was the primary photographer for the wedding.

Meet Yuka & Dai. We got there a little before the ceremony started so we were able to snap some portraits of them before their guests arrived.

It was a very intimate wedding at the luxurious Culver Hotel in Culver City, a special day shared by those who were near and dear to the newlyweds. This wedding was a lot of fun for me and Joseph to be a part of and we easily fell in love with the venue. We only wish we had a little more time to take more wedding portraits, but we managed what we could and are happy with the shots we pulled off in the amount of time we had available.

Big congratulations to Yuka and Dai and thank you again for having us be a part of your big day in Culver City!

  • Pacific Palms Resort Wedding | Maria & Robert | Highlight Photos

  • Greetings and welcome back!

Today, we get to look at photos Geoff and I captured at Maria and Robert’s wedding day at the Pacific Palms Resort in City of Industry, CA. A hidden gem in an otherwise industrial area, Pacific Palms is a great venue on a hilltop in the San Gabriel Valley that offers an excellent view of the San Gabriel mountains, outstanding service, and some of the finest golf that California has available. Any bride and groom who use this venue are rarely disappointed in it.

Geoff and I were very honored to be selected as their professional photographers for their wedding day. Having photographed there before, we knew where a lot of the scenic shooting locations were to be productive and efficient.

We started the wedding day off during preparation at Pacific Palms. While the bride and bridesmaids were getting their make-up done, Geoff and I had some time to take some detail photos.

Geoff has a soft spot for dogs, Chihuahua’s especially, and when he saw Princess, he went straight to her.

After the wedding ceremony, it was back to Pacific Palms Resort for cocktail hour, wedding party portraits, and the wedding reception.

There was a quite a bit of unexpected traffic, so even though the venues were not far from each other, it took a while to get back. What that meant for us was that the time that was allotted for wedding party portraits was cut significantly short. It was a good thing that Geoff and I were familiar with the venue or else we wouldn’t have been able to get many photos of the wedding party. Having an experienced photographer who is familiar with venues and locations nearby help a lot in these time-limited situations.

  • Taglyan Complex Wedding Photos | Hollywood, CA | Becky & Hoang

  • Today, we have the pleasure of sharing photos from Becky and Hoang’s big day from the Taglyan Complex located in Hollywood, CA. This beautiful wedding venue, just blocks away from the iconic Hollywood and Vine intersection, is best known for their stunning ballroom complete with a 5,000 square foot stained-glass ceiling.

From the very beginning of the day, Geoff and I knew it was going to be a really awesome wedding to be a part of. The tea ceremony they had was full of laughs thanks to bridesmaids making the groomsmen prove to them that the groom was worthy of their bride. Of course, being as cunning as he is, the groom tried to be slick and quick for the front door of the bride’s parents house. He was chased down and booted back to the front of the yard where there were games waiting for him and his groomsmen.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-001

Wheel-barrel styled push ups while picking gummy worms was just a warm up to advance towards the front door of the house.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-002

The next game was to pass the strip of seaweed to each groomsman.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-003

Lastly, the groom had to sing her a song to confess his love to the bride.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-004

The sign of approval from the bride’s parents.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-005

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-006

Even their cute Chihuahua got in the spirit with her own red dress.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-007

After the tea ceremony festivities were over, the entire wedding party made their way to the W Hotel in Hollywood to finish getting ready for the ceremony. This is where the bride changed into her wedding dress with a little bit of help.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-008

A really endearing “Simba” moment we were able to capture with the bride and her puppy.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-010

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-011

The bride sent over a gift for the groom and it definitely got the approval of his groomsmen. Nothing a fancy bottle of Scotch won’t do, right?

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-012

A truly happy and blessed couple. You can just tell by the way they looked at each other during their first look before the wedding ceremony.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-013

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-014

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-015

We had a few moments, so we took advantage of the beautiful W Hotel to snap a few wedding party photos before we departed for the Taglyan Complex nearby for the wedding ceremony and reception.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-016

We arrived at the Taglyan Complex and got underway with some wedding portraits with just the bride and groom. As pretty as the venue is on the inside, it’s outside area is also awesome with a garden complete with a nice fountain.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-017

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-018

It was a packed ceremony with a couple hundred guests, but the Taglyan Complex was able to accommodate the large number of friends and family there to witness the wedding ceremony.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-022

The grand ball room and amazing stained-glass window that everyone recognizes. This first dance had the special effect of low fog to give it a romantic and dramatic feel to it. We’re definitely going to be seeing this a lot more often at weddings.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-023

The bride was very close to her 3 sisters, so they planned this awesome rap as their speech that blew everyone away.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-024

As if the rap speech couldn’t be topped, the bride and her father really wowed the crowd with a surprise dance performance to remember!

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-025

Our good friend DJ Orbit (Darren Gin) was their DJ in charge of the music and we were very excited about that as well. DJ Orbit and his team are definitely one of the best in the business and we always refer our clients to him if they’re looking for a professional who knows wedding appropriate music and how to beat juggle and mash-up songs to get everyone on their feet.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-026

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-027

After the cake cutting, everyone met on the dance floor and let the good times roll until the end of the night. What an amazing wedding to be a part of ! From start to finish, it was an awesome wedding filled with laughs and surprises and we were honored to be the ones behind the camera capturing all the moments.

It was our first time photographing at the W Hotel in Hollywood and the Taglyan Complex, but with the experience that Geoff and I have shooting weddings and other events, we were very excited to shoot at those two venues.

  • Allyson & Steven Tie the Knot! | North Shore, Oahu | Highlight Photos

  • Welcome to Oahu! In this wedding blog post, we get to relive the highlights of Allyson and Steven’s big day at a private venue in the North Shore of Oahu in Hawaii. Geoff and I were very excited to be a part of their wedding and couldn’t wait to start shooting photos.

Before the wedding day, we were able to get a run through at the venue with the wedding party and Lauren, the wedding coordinator. Lauren, L-4-Love Wedding Planning, was super professional and a delight to work with, and we knew the big day was going to be as smooth as it could be with her and her team taking charge.

With the rehearsal out of the way, all we had to do was make sure our camera bags were packed with the gear we needed and to get some rest.

The wedding day started off with preparation photos of the wedding party.

As drinks flowed and people danced, the couple was nice enough to pre-order a midnight snack for their guests. Large pizzas were being passed around and was a total hit!

    Turtle-Beach-Hawaii-Wedding-Photos-025

This was something that the couple have seen at other weddings and have always wanted to do it. With the help of their friends and family there, they were able to realize the dream.

    Turtle-Beach-Hawaii-Wedding-Photos-026

It was a pleasure being a part of Allyson and Steven’s big day in Oahu, and we couldn’t have had a better time. The weather and lighting got tricky at times with fast moving clouds that would block out the warm sunlight suddenly, but Geoff and I are experienced and are fast at calibrating our camera settings to compensate.

It was our first destination wedding in Hawaii and are already booked for another one coming up in April! Can’t wait to be back for the food and the culture. It’s a very different lifestyle than the fast-paced style we are used to in Los Angeles. The views can’t be beat there and maybe we can book a couple of engagement sessions or other photo shoots while we’re there to make the most out of our trip.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the photos we captured from North Shore, Oahu during Allyson and Steven’s wedding day! Be sure to stop by again soon for more wedding photos.

Wheel-barrel styled push ups while picking gummy worms was just a warm up to advance towards the front door of the house.

The next game was to pass the strip of seaweed to each groomsman.

    Tagylan-Hollywood-Wedding-003

Lastly, the groom had to sing her a song to confess his love to the bride.

Even their cute Chihuahua got in the spirit with her own red dress.

After the tea ceremony festivities were over, the entire wedding party made their way to the W Hotel in Hollywood to finish getting ready for the ceremony. This is where the bride changed into her wedding dress with a little bit of help.

A really endearing “Simba” moment we were able to capture with the bride and her puppy.

The bride sent over a gift for the groom and it definitely got the approval of his groomsmen. Nothing a fancy bottle of Scotch won’t do, right?

A truly happy and blessed couple. You can just tell by the way they looked at each other during their first look before the wedding ceremony.

It was a packed ceremony with a couple hundred guests, but the Taglyan Complex was able to accommodate the large number of friends and family there to witness the wedding ceremony.

The bride and groom have their first look and a private moment before the rest of the festivities begin. The Hawaiian backdrop was beautiful and provided a nice blue and green scene for this moment.

Taking advantage of the Hawaiian scenery and being efficient, we took some wedding party photos since everyone was there and photo ready.
